As I sat at my computer researching this year’s presidential candidates, I got to thinking, and it drives me absolutely crazy how close-minded America is. I hate when I hear people say, “well, I don’t know if this country is ready for a woman or a black person to run it.” For hundreds of years countries across the world have had leaders that were not white men, and they have gotten along just fine. I think it just goes to show how racist so many Americans still are, and it makes me so frustrated. The issue should not be the candidate’s race or tender, it should be whether they will lead the country well. Why do people seem to think that white and male are two prerequisites for a good leader? I’m so tired of white male leaders. I really want change.
